Design \u201eOskar\u201c f\u00fcr EDAG<\/h2>\n

Der CityBot wurde mit dem German Design Award 2020 in Gold in der Kategorie \u201eExcellent Product Design\u201c ausgezeichnet. Die hochkar\u00e4tig besetzte Jury w\u00fcrdigte das ikonische Design des CityBot, das den radikal neuartigen Ansatz f\u00fcr eine effiziente und nachhaltige Mobilit\u00e4t weithin sichtbar widerspiegele.<\/p>\n

Das CityBot Konzept sei durch seine Multifunktionalit\u00e4t ein Meilenstein auf dem Weg zu einer ganzheitlichen Mobilit\u00e4t in Ballungsr\u00e4umen und einer zukunftsorientierten Stadtplanung.<\/p>\n

Electric linear actuators from LINAK are characterized by clean movements that can be controlled precisely and consistently. As a result, they form an important basis for the highly automated EDAG CityBots. To achieve this aim, the two parties announced their partnership a short time ago. One example is the “Campus FreeCity real lab for the research of a networked fleet of modular robot vehicles” project, which has recently been jointly implemented and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMDV).[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner column_margin=”default” text_align=”left”][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_position=”all” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” width=”1\/2″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid” bg_image_animation=”none”][vc_column_text]”At the Campus FreeCity in the Deutsche Bank Park, the focus is on a complete ecosystem that the EDAG Group has developed for the mobility, transport and service tasks of a smart city,” explains Holger Merz, CFO of the EDAG Group. The EDAG CityBots are of central importance here. These are autonomous robot vehicles which, as a result of their modular structure, can be used for a wide variety of tasks. These might be anything from the transport of people or goods to the disposal of waste or park maintenance. The success story of the “EDAG CityBot” mobility concept continues. Within the context of the “Campus FreeCity” project sponsored by BMDV, development is to continue of the vision of a multifunctional, autonomous fleet of robots for a first practical application in a physical environment. The funding decision was officially handed over by Dr. Michael G\u00fcntner, state secretary at BMDV, on 24 November 2021. The project, which is scheduled to run until May 2024, is being sponsored to the tune of \u20ac 11 million by BMDV within the scope of the action plan “Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence in Mobility”. House of Logistics and Mobility (HOLM) GmbH, the consortium leader, is in charge of the overall project management, and acting as the content-related and organisational interface of the consortium. Following the presentation of the first fully automated AI technology carrier in 2020, we are delighted that, with the “Campus FreeCity” project, we will reach the next milestone in its technical further development and practical use,” explains Cosimo De Carlo, CEO of the EDAG Group. In the course of the project, the EDAG Group will for the first time ever network two additional intelligent, modular robot vehicles \u2013 the “EDAG CityBots”. These are two interchangeable transport and conveyance modules, developed and produced by the globally operating engineering service provider. This means that the EDAG Group is providing the complex core of the real lab installation.<\/p>\n

“We can put our skills in the development of autonomous vehicles, AI solutions, software and digitalisation and classic vehicle engineering to optimum use in the project. Using “EDAG CityBot” vehicles developed by the EDAG Group, the project is carrying out laboratoryscale research into the challenges posed by and possible solutions for our previously uncoordinated urban transport. Urban transport is characterised by high traffic density, congestion, local emissions and the use of large areas of land. Its transport potential is neither coordinated nor fully exploited.<\/p>\n

The interdisciplinary “Campus FreeCity” project is researching the challenges posed by and possible solutions for inner-city traffic problems using two “EDAG CityBot” vehicles which, in the course of the project, will be developed for the transport of passengers and goods, then implemented, operated and scientifically analysed in the laboratory. The laboratory development enables various topics relevant to future mobility and logistics systems be explored under realistic conditions. These include networked, automated driving functions, networking and data exchange, human-machine communication, acceptance and trust, integrated order management and the identification and realisation of economic and technical optimisation potentials in operation.<\/p>\n

“This project is examining a completely new type of mobility and logistics system, and is therefore making
\na definite contribution to the transformation of transport.
